Help at Home

Postnatal support at home

Having a new baby can be wonderful but it is often also completely overwhelming -both physically and mentally. Unfortunately our society expects parents to be up and about as soon as they've had their baby, and that often just isn't the feasible reality for many new mums and dads. If you're feeling overwhelmed and desperate for some help - don't worry, you aren't alone. I am here to help.

I offer private home visits to help you in the early days of newborn life, whether that's nannying and newborn care or postnatal support for you.

My services can include:

  • Maternity 'nursing' (nannying for newborns and support for new parents) for the first months of life*

  • Developmental check-ins and postnatal support with worries or queries

  • Postnatal parent support and a helping hand, including running errands, meal prep and new-mother care

  • Sleep support

  • Infant first aid training

  • Night nannying to allow you some much-needed rest (breastfeeding friendly)

  • Help with establishing a routine

  • Support with leaving the house and attending appointments or groups

  • Choosing childcare

  • My popular postnatal course in a one-to-one setting

Prices start from £50 per hour plus mileage (I am based on the North/West Yorkshire & Lancashire border).

What is maternity nursing?

Contrary to the way the name sounds, maternity nursing doesn't involve medical care. Instead, it is the support of new parents in caring for their baby in the first few weeks or months of their life.

I work alongside you to guide and support you in everything you need to know about caring for your new baby, from bathing them to dressing them correctly for the weather, to answering developmental questions. When required, I can also take sole charge of the baby (or babies) to give you a much-needed rest. While I am supporting you, I will ensure that everything relating to the baby is taken care of and kept clean - I will ensure, where needed, that bottles, pumps and other equipment is sterilised, baby’s laundry is washed, dried and put away and that the nursery and main living spaces are clean and orderly. I can also prepare healthy meals for you while I am at the house.

While I am not a lactation consultant, I can work alongside a professional or method of your choice to provide moral support and encouragement based upon my experience of successfully breastfeeding 3 babies for over a year each.

I also have experience of combination and formula feeding and I am here to support you and your choices.
